Certifications
Certifications are a great way to prove your knowledge on a certain technology. It verifies in detail through exams on the specific subject the best resolution for given situations based on real scenarios. Once approved on those exams one is credited a title equivalent to the level of complexity and subject tested.
I've so far passed on 12 exams for Microsoft Products and will explain a bit more what these certifications represent.
- MCITP - Windows Server 2008 - Enterprise Administrator

Earning a Windows Server 2008 certification shows that you have the expertise to confidently evaluate, design, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server 2008 solutions. It also demonstrates your ability to use new features, including Web tools, virtualization technologies, security enhancements, and management utilities.
MCITP: Enterprise Administrator
Validates your ability to design Windows Server infrastructures; evaluate and recommend new technology solutions; serve as an escalation point for infrastructure issues; develop client and server best practices for other teams, such as engineering, development, and operations; keep policy current for authentication, identity, and access management; provide guidance in implementing security policies that affect the infrastructure on multiple levels; participate in application reviews on security; and ensure that the applications adhere to standard security guidelines and practices.
- MCITP - Windows Server 2008 - Server Administrator

Earning a Windows Server 2008 certification shows that you have the expertise to confidently evaluate, design, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server 2008 solutions. It also demonstrates your ability to use new features, including Web tools, virtualization technologies, security enhancements, and management utilities.
MCITP: Server Administrator
Validates your ability to handle day-to-day management of the server operating system, file structure, and directory services; handle software distribution and updates; monitor servers; provide tier-2 troubleshooting support; support engineering and change-management projects; build and configure servers; implement auditing policy; perform scheduled vulnerability-assessment scans; and monitor logs for firewalls and intrusion-detection systems.

Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) certifications enable professionals to target specific technologies and to distinguish themselves by demonstrating in-depth knowledge and expertise in Microsoft specialized technologies.MCTS: Windows Server 2008 Active Directory Configuration
Certifies and individual to work with Active Directory and Directory Services, Active Directory server roles, certificate management, and Group Policy.
- MCTS - Windows Server 2008 - Application Platform

Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) certifications enable professionals to target specific technologies and to distinguish themselves by demonstrating in-depth knowledge and expertise in Microsoft specialized technologies.
MCTS: Windows Server 2008 Applications Infrastructure Configuration
Certifies and individual to work with Windows deployment services, terminal services, Web services, and media services.

Entry Level Certification on the Microsoft Certified Program. This validates the knowledge of an individual over a specific product or set of features of a product.
My first certification was obtained targeting the product Windows 2000 Professional the client windows version at the time.
